Don't Fire Charlie Weis!

Saturday, November 29, 2008 2 comments

Ha, you're thinking why the heck not? It's under Charlie's watch when Notre Dame loses to Navy at home ending their 43 year winning streak against NAVY. Didn't Weis just lose to Syracuse? Ha ha, yes that was pretty funny too. Isn't Charlie Weis' record worse than the record of Ty Willingham? Well Chuck has won 58% of his games with a 28-20 winning record. Ty also won 58% with his 21-15 record. Since the Irish will be playing USC later today, Chuck's record will officially be worse.

So why am I against the the firing of Charlie Weis? Well I'm not an Irish fan. Oh oops wait a second. But even Irish fans want Weis fired don't they? I mean the fans did throw snowballs at the team and the coaching staff at their last home game. Right right. Well I don't want Charlie Weis fired because I find him amusing. It's not exactly the best reason to keep a coach, but he gives us the best one liners.
Here's a few:

"I could get hoodlums and thugs and win tomorrow"
Well I know The ROCK can
, but I'm not so sure about you Charlie. You got the 2nd best recruiting class in the nation last year and you're still not winning.

"...if he's (the quarterback) with me for one day he'll be good, two days he'll be great and three days he'll be incredible."

#1 Ranked QB out of HS 20 TDs 15 INTs 59% comp#14 Ranked QB out of HS 32 TDs 7 INTs 77.6% comp

...and 2 years he'll be mediocre??? Colt McCoy wasn't as highly regarded out of high school but he has put up better numbers than your QB against tougher teams.

Notre Dame will have a "schematic advantage" Ha! I say to you. That's like Dubya Bush
bush press conferencesaying he has a good foreign policy

Anyway, back to what I was saying. While it might be a Weis move to get rid of Charlie. (Like how I used Weis instead of wise? Clever huh?) I just don't want them to fire him. Ten more years of Weis at the helm for the Irish means 10 more years of USC dominating them by 30 points. Besides, it's always fun watching fat arrogant slobs who have never played the game of football fail miserably.

Big Broderick a Big Loss for USC

Monday, November 10, 2008 0 comments

The year that brought the Trojans the likes of Joe McKnight, Marc Tyler, and Broderick Green also brought hopes to USC fans that we will once again have an exciting running game that was much missed after the departure of Reggie Bush and Lendale White.

I thought USC was incredibly lucky to be able to land a #1 and #2 ranked players playing the same position in the same year. Since USC already had a great player in Stafon Johnson and a great showing from Gable and Moody, it was just shocking that McKnight and Tyler would still commit to the same school. What's even more incredible is that a highly touted running back named Broderick Green would follow as well.

Green came in saying that he "will definitely not be redshiritng" during his freshman year. He impressed the coaches so much that he probably wouldn't have. Unfortunately, an injury before season's start set Broderick back. Broderick worked hard to be ready this year, and sadly, found himself in a long line behind other great backs trying to fight for playing time.

Joe McKnight is talked about so much because he comes with the expectations of becoming the next Reggie Bush who we can all agree is USC's most electrifying running back ever. So when a player like Emmanuel Moody left the program, nobody really cared or missed him. But now, with Broderick Green going out the door, everyone from the coaching staff to the fans should have a much different reaction.

Broderick Green didn't get enough chance to make an impression. He had 32 rushes for 168 yards. That's an average of 5.3 yards per carry to go along with his 3 touchdowns. If given more carries, at that rate he would have more touchdowns than Stafon Johnson and with a slightly higher average yards per carry. So losing Green would be like USC losing a much needed Stafon Johnson in the lineup. Think that's bad? Well as far as the future goes losing Broderick Green is like USC never having Lendale White.

Lendale holds the record for the Trojans all time rushing touchdowns with 52. White finished his career with 3,159 yards and a 5.9 average per rush. Given the chance, I think a stronger and faster Broderick Green would have easily shattered those records. More so than the Joe-Mac/Tyler combo, I think a Joe-Mac/Green combination would have been a more powerful Thunder and Lightning one-two punch.

It's really a shame that Green is on the way out. It's unfortunate that he couldn't break in to the rotation. It's a shame that he couldn't wait one more year. Going back to his comments after signing his Letter of Intent to go to USC about the coaches telling him he will come in to fill the role of Lendale White. Green said, "I don't really want to hear taht, I want to be better than Lendale White."

Well Broderick, you definitely would have been better. Most SC fans won't miss you because not too many are aware of who's standing on the sidelines, but you are definitely a HUGE Lendale size loss. Read the full story

Don't Cal us, We'll Cal You

USC's biggest obstacle this weekend was themselves. In fact, 90% of the challenge was themselves while the Bears made up the other 10%. I know Carroll is frustrated with the refs calling so many penalties on the Trojans, but a good chunk of it is really just from lack of discipline. When you play such an aggressive defense, it's hard to just turn off that switch after the whistle blows. Anyway, it was still a great victory against Cal. I'm still bitter about that overtime lost years ago, so I'm always happy to see them lose. But I will, like the rest of you should, cheer them on against the Beavers. Read the full story

College Football: Playoff, BCS, and the Pimp Daddy

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 0 comments

Pete Carroll asked the perfect question. Do you vote for the team that had the best season (as far as records go) or do you vote for the best team at the end of the season who you think can win it out if there was a playoff system? The Trojans have been dominating the Rose Bowl for the past couple years to finish of their season. They made an egg out of the Wolverines and Illinois and beat them. Get it? Get it? Made like an egg and beat it? Ha ha. Anyway. So at the end of those games many analyst would say, USC is the best team in college football right now. Even before those two Rose Bowl games, everyone knows that there is not one team who would want to face USC for the National Title game. USC has been absolutely dominating.

Going back to Pete Carroll's question, who are we voting #1? Texas Tech is ranked ahead of the Trojans, but seriously. Who really thinks they can beat USC? The vote should be on who is the BEST team and not so much on who has the best record. That sounds like a silly statement huh? Well it's not silly. If all teams faced the same teams and had the same schedule, then yes, we can try to rank them based on their record. But that isn't the case. So the vote should be on who do you think is the best team. Texas Tech isn't better than USC and neither are some of the teams ranked above USC.

Think of football teams as wanna be pimp daddy's at a club. Let's say Penn State is Steve and USC is Bob. Steve asks out 10 ugly girls and gets 10 sets of digits. Bob goes out and asks out 10 better looking girls w/ a couple hotties and only gets 7 sets of digits. Would you say Steve is the big daddy mac and has more pimp juice than Bob? We can all get more phone numbers when we ask out desperate ugly girls. That doesn't make us more of a Pimp Daddy. It just means we played it safe. That's exactly what many of these highly ranked teams are doing. Playing it safe!

Now Texas Tech does have a pretty challenging schedule. I really don't want to pick on that team. They are pretty damn good. All I'm saying is, that great teams like USC and Texas will likely lose a game during the season. That's just the world of college football full of young athletes. USC who everyone assumed would win the National Championship this year didn't all the sudden lose their mojo because of that loss to the Beavers. They are still the same powerful team. Look at how they crushed the Buckeyes who Penn State barely beat. We should be voting for the BEST team who we can see winning it out if there was a playoff system installed instead of voting for the team w/ the prettiest record.

Once we start voting for the BEST team, then we can all be saved from watching the Buckeyes who finish with a pretty record get beat down in the national stage. Imagine if it was USC who Florida and LSU faced the past couple years. I don't know who would've won, but I know USC is too Pimp to get beat down like the Buckeyes did. Read the full story

Presidential Election and the BCS

I've been a horrible blogger. I've neglected posting updates and giving you all my take on USC Football and the BCS. I've used the disappointed loss to the Beavers as an excuse. Well right now the economy sucks, the job market sucks, and the stock market sucks. We've all lost jobs, the values of our 401ks, and for some they've lost their homes. What's going on in this country is just as bad as the USC losing to the Beavers. Well we don't have a a vote in the Coach's Poll or the AP Poll. We're not one of the lame computers that help make up the BCS Rankings. What we do have is a voice in the form of a vote to help determine the the fate of our great country the next 4 years. So let's rock the vote Maualuga style and shake things up, and maybe... just maybe. We'll move the good ol' USA back to the top of it's World Ranking. Read the full story
