USC stop and smell the Roses. We're going to the Rose Bowl again...

Rearrange, add a K, and you get S.U.C.K

It's a little harsh and a little childish. It's like something a little 1st grader would say when he breaks up with his first "girlfriend" right before nap time cause he's angry that she shared her fruit roll up with another boy. Well that's boy has the right to be angry. USC fans have the right to be angry!

A college football season is like a romantic relationship. It just takes one screw up to end it. Once it's over, you have to start all over again and wait for the next relationship to have a chance to find true love. In this case, us fans have to wait another season for a chance to win the national championship. Well I guess continuing with the analogy, tonight is the night our partner cheated on us. Or the night we got drunk and did something stupid, or maybe called out the wrong name in bed. In any case we just screwed up and now it's over. USC screwed up by losing to the BEAVERS!!! and now the season is over.

Another year with so much potential that will end with one of our players, probably Maualuga, conducting the band on a ladder after a Rose Bowl win. Call up the florist, might as well start ordering the roses Read the full story

I'm tired of the Rose Bowl

If I can rewrite history and can only change one thing so far this season, I would choose USC to lose against Ohio State instead of the BEAVERS!!!!! At least the voters would be a little forgiving and still give the Trojans a chance to fight for the National Championship. Since early this week the talk is that even if USC goes undefeated, with the Pac 10 being so weak, USC may not even make it to the big game. Now that they have choked again, they may not even be worthy of the Chalupa Bowl. Read the full story

USC on 3rd/4th down and inches

On those 3rd and short and 4th and inches, USC has sucked quite a bit since Norm Chow left. They have been so predictable. Those 4th and inches against the Longhorns where REGGIE BUSH was standing on the sidelines and L.White getting stuffed. That 4th and inches against the Ducks last year where we watched Joe prance around for a lost. Here we are on our first drive and it's 3rd and 1 and they bring Stafon in and everyone knows where they are going. What happens? He gets stuffed. Read the full story

Update: Finally

Yes it's already Thursday. I've yet to post the new weekly rankings. Well lets do a brief summary on that. I'm not as impressed with Missouri, and I'm very surprised with Bama. The LSU/Auburn game was very exciting, and while I hate LSU and Les Miles, I've got to give them credit. They are the best 2 minute drill team I've seen in a long time. They are very clutch or lucky in the final moments of the game. I will say that the Longhorns will get bumped up, and even with the Buckeye win, they will go down. I'll have the full list later after the USC game. Fight on! Read the full story

A Burfict Night against Matt's Monarchs

Saturday, September 20, 2008 0 comments

Last year when the Mater Dei Monarchs squared off against the Corona Centennial Huskies, it was a clash of two top teams that ended in a high scoring thriller. This year's game was no different. The first quarter was filled with 2 play drives ending in touchdowns, two kickoffs being returned for TD's, and mesmerizing TD runs by Centennial's Arthur Burns. While it wasn't really a Burfict Night, it was a perfect night to see some offensive prowess from both teams as they scored the majority of the 47-35 points in the 1st quarter.

You can read more on the Huskies win over the Monarchs here

I've never been a big high school football fan. Decades ago when I was in high school I only went for the hot girls at school. Now I watched to see the hottest players in high school. Different kind of hot! Hot as in future stars for Saturday and eventually Sunday Football.

This game featured the #1 ranked QB in Matt Barkley and the #1 ranked MLB in Vontaze Burfict.

Barkley was amazing as always and I will elaborate on that further in another post today. Vontaze Burfict didn't have as many opportunities to show why he is such a highly touted player at MLB because of the make up of the game. He did show how hard he can hit by leaving a Monarch player on the ground for a few minutes after a devastating (somewhat late) hit. Read the full story

USC to get a Crack at Shaq

Greg Biggins of ESPN posted on his blog that Shaquelle Evans who was on the sidelines as USC beat up the Buckeyes have made a soft commitment to the Trojans the same week the Bruins had an embarrassing loss to BYU. This is a huge hit for the Bruins who have supposedly ended the football monopoly in LA. Read the full story

USC Footblog Top 10 (cause anything lower is like placing 4th in the Olympics)

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 0 comments

1(1) USC - The Buckeyes fall apart once again in the big stage against an elite team. Well they didn't really fall apart. They gave the Trojans their best, but clearly that wasn't enough. The Trojan Offense played well. The Defense rose to the occasion, and the Buckeye QB fell... many times

2(2) Oklahoma - The Sooners impressed once again, and this time against Washington. Their offense is just amazing led by Bradford. He reminds me a little bit of Jason White. I'm still iffy about their defense, but in the end all that matters is who has more points on the scoreboard, and the Sooners have showed they can score plenty.

3(4) Florida - An idle week for the Gators gave them a chance to rest before a great match up next week against the Volunteers. They still deserve to get bumped up since Georgia failed to impress against South Carolina.

4(6) Missouri - If you've noticed in our polls the previous 2 weeks, I left a blank comment on this team. I was just left speechless. Well their offensive performance was amazing, but again it was against Nevada. But still, here you go Mizzou - WOW

5(3)Georgia - I bumped you up 2 spots last week, but South Carolina almost put you in your place, and so I will put you back in your old place. Defense wins championships and you showed you can play defense, but against teams like USC, Florida, and Oklahoma, you will have to put some points on the board as well. I'm beginning to doubt you can outscore those type of teams.

6(7) LSU - This game seriously reminded me of something I saw on the news. I even found the article here It's about some 18 year old kid that tried to steal from a little girl's lemonade stand and she called the cops on him. Well LSU bullied the little kids of North Texas here. I can't wait to see what they do with kids their size - Auburn.

7(5) Ohio State - The lost against SC was devastating to their program and the image of the big 10. I couldn't even get myself to capitalize BIG like I normally would in that sentence. The Buckeyes took a huge fall in many polls, but I'm only dropping them 2 spots. Yes they lost to SC, but that was like playing an AFC team. The Buckeyes aren't as good as the Trojans, but I still think their better than teams like Wisconsin, Auburn, and even Texas.

8(8) Texas - Only a hurricane can stop this team, and it did.

9(x) Alabama - They surprised us in their game against Clemson. They've had a couple of gimmies since but can't deny that they looked great. Maybe they'll do an East Carolina and just make a cameo appearance on our top 10. With the Razorbacks and Bulldogs coming up next in their schedule, I guess we'll see.

10(x) USC Practice Squad - Wisconsin barely escaped against Fresno State. Auburn scored a field goal against Mississippi State??? I don't know how those teams can get ranked so high in these polls. I do like Texas Tech and really enjoy South Florida after that game against Kansas, but I just thought this would be funnier. Read the full story

USC wins 35-3

Saturday, September 13, 2008 0 comments

Our prediction was a score of 41-13 w/ a 7 point plus minus. If Ohio State didn't miss that easy field goal we were definitely dead on. You can read about the game on espn.com and many other great USC sites so I won't get in to it.

It doesn't matter if we expected a close game or a blowout. What we all wanted most is what we got - another Trojan win! Fight on! Read the full story

Oh I wish to see the Irish....lose

Needless to say, last year was a great year of watching Notre Dame football. It was great seeing so called offensive genius Charlie Weis struggle to get his team to score.

Well I'm currently watching Notre Dame play Michigan. I'm so upset the Wolverines just fumbled the ball in the red zone. The Irish was up early scoring 21 unanswered points due to the Wolverines missteps. Now the score is 28 - 17. Wait, Michigan fumbled and got it returned for a touchdown. 35-17 Irish. Hold on to the ball people!

Well here are a couple game notes.

1. Sam McGuffie is FUN to watch. USC missed out on him since he was interested at one point, but USC has more talent so that doesn't really matter.

2. Jimmy Clausen looks like Chuky

Fan Vote: Sanchez over Booty Part 1

A question was asked on who fans would prefer to be USC's QB if Booty was still in the mix. The overwhelming response is Sanchez. My pick would be Sanchez as well since I've been a big fan of his since his high school days.

We have already seen the added dimension he brings to the game. We finally have a deep ball threat once again. A QB who can also waltz in the pocket to avoid the blitzes. It's easy to see why the fans are picking Sanchez. It's not only because of the whole "what have you done for me lately" attitude." He has simply brought the excitement back to the Trojans. His ability to stretch the defense has even brought back the Reggie/Lendale type of excitement in the ground game.

Now, the reason I broke this down in to two segments is because I want to see how much the fans will love him after the Ohio State game that will start in a couple hours. At that point, with the fans opinions and with their stats, we'll try and break down who is the better QB.

At this point, we at least know who is more exciting. Read the full story

OSU: Dead Meat and Well(s) Done

Thursday, September 11, 2008 0 comments

On our previous post we mentioned that USC's defense is too good that even a healthy Chris "Beanie" Wells won't make that much of an impact in the game. It should be noted however, that we don't really know how Mark Sanchez will perform against a more aggressive defense that will surely blitz all Saturday afternoon. This game will definitely hang on which offense will make the least amount of mistakes, and on the flip side, which defense will create the most havoc for the opposing team. I'll ptu my money on USC's defense with the likes of Maualuga, Cushing, and Taylor Mays roaming around. Read the full story

"Beanie" Well(s) enough to play USC, but how well?

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 0 comments

Chris "Beanie" Wells told coach Tressel that he is ready to carry the ball 45 times against USC on Sunday. I don't know how many yards he can average on each of those carries, but considering Dan Herron didn't really provide that "boom" last week against Ohio with only 50 rushing yards, I'm sure Buckeye fans would be relieved just to see Beanie Wells on the field. But can he really make a difference healthy or not?

This leads to my question. Is Beanie Wells really that good? He had 200+ rushing against Michigan and Michigan State last year, but those teams weren't exactly on the same level as USC. So I decided to look at his stats against Illinois, since USC faced that team as well at the Rose Bowl.

Joe McKnight ran for 125 yards on 10 carries. Stafon Johnson ran for 104 yards on just 9 carries. Chauncey Washington only managed 75 yards on 12 carries, but that is much better than Beanie Wells numbers against Illinois where he only amassed 76 yards on 20 carries. Our guys managed averages of 12.5, 11.6, and 6.4 yards per carry against the same defense that stopped Wells at just 3.8 yards per carry. I know Illi's defense is irrelevant on Saturday's game, but it helps answer the question of how good Beanie Wells is compared to our guys. (got that Lou?)

I think Rashard Mendenhall is a great talent. I see him having a great career in the NFL for the Steelers. Is Wells on the same level as Mendenhall? You tell me. But looking at that Rose Bowl game, if you take away Mendenhall's 79 yard run, he would have 76 yards on 16 carries. Clearly that wasn't enough against USC. Well this is where Lou Holtz would say, well who's to say Wells isn't going to make a 79 yard run? Well I'm not saying Wells isn't capable, but considering how great USC's defense is, and Wells not at 100%, I just don't see it happening. Even if he carries the ball 45 times, Beanie won't be good enough.

Maybe Terrel Pryor will do a Vince Young, but outside of that miracle, I don't see Beanie Well's making a difference, healthy or not, against USC. On that note, I just don't see Ohio State winning a game against USC. Read the full story

USC #1 Again on Footblog Top 10

1(1) USC - Trojans remain at #1 during their off week. Since their offense spent the week going against their defense, they faced a much tougher challenge than Georgia and OSU who faced Central Michigan and Ohio.

2(3) Oklahoma - Impressive offense led by Bradford. Their defense is not where you'd want them to be, but the way they took over the 2nd half, I don't see anyone being able to outscore them.

3(5) Georgia - Dobbs returns an INT for 78 yards. Knowshon was completely unstoppable the whole day. Tough to stop Georgia when they dominate both sides of the ball. Duh

4(4) Florida - I had them over Georgia last week, but their offense didn't impress me much. Their defense was tough, but they shouldn't have been limited to one TD in the first half against a young rebuilding team.

5(2) Ohio St. - I'm still trying to figure out how Lou Holtz can possibly say that the Buckeyes have a better group at tailback than the Trojans. Herron led the Buckeyes in rushing with just 50 yards against Ohio. They had trouble moving the ball against a much inferior team and if it weren't for a muffed punt, they could have easily lost the game. Still, they have great players and may have been looking to far ahead to their big match up on the 14th. Expect them to play like much better next week and cause the Trojans some trouble.

6(6) Missouri

7(7) LSU - Only a hurricane can stop this team.

8(10) Texas - Colt McCoy's performance quickly crushed whatever hope an early 6-0 lead gave UTEP. 20 for 20 passing and 4 TDs can do that to ya.

9(x) Wisconsin - They break in to our top 10 with their beat down of Marshall. Well it was just Marshall, but I like Hill, I like a team who can crush a team after being down. Next week's game against Fresno State should be fun to watch.

10(x) East Carolina - Some would question how a previously unranked team can jump so high on my top 10. They beat Virginia Tech and embarrassed West Virginia. I don't know what else they have to do to get attention. Besides, Auburn at #10 is too high for that team who I see losing big against LSU.

If my rankings can keep going...

69 Chattanooga - Cause I love saying that name
70 West Virginia - Shame on you. Shame on all of you

Sunday Trojans: Week 1 Rhyme Time

Matt Cassel
You only threw 33 passes for USC
You sure faced some adversity
But I'm glad the work paid off
Cause now you get to say "Hey Leinart look at me"

Mr Bush
I still remember what you did in South Bend
Now we ask if you can do it again
Leinart can use another Bush-Push
Motivate him, and we'll get the Leinart from way back when

ps. thanks for your performance on opening Sunday
163 All purpose yards helped my fantasy team in a big way

USC Defense
Great work LoJack, Sedrick, Polamalu, and Tatupu
Keith Rivers I dedicate this line just for you
Way to lead your team in tackles as a rook
You're their best defender there in my book

It's fun to watch so many Trojans playing on Sunday. I think Frostee Rucker is finally beginning to make an impact in the NFL and it's great to see DJ make a couple catches for the Panthers. But out of all the players from USC, I'm really happy for Matt Cassel. Now that Brady is officially out for the rest of the season, we'll get to see our former clip board holder lead the Pats. It definitely shows that you don't need a Heisman to make a name in the NFL. Just a lot of work, a little bit of luck, and a season ending knee injury. Go Matt...Cassel! Read the full story

Homecoming Queen and the Band Geek, Lou Holtz

Sunday, September 7, 2008 0 comments

I'm sitting here watching some ESPN and I believe it's College Football Live that's on. The host asks the question on which team has the most depth at Tailback. The other guys says, "clearly it's USC." He points out how we have so many former All-American HS Tailbacks and how many of them have shown they can score. He even points out how our backs can catch and create plays after the catch. USC is always referred to as Tailback U. We have more top RB recruits than anyone else in college football. I honestly thought that this would be that ONE time that Lou Holtz would have to say something positive about USC. I was wrong.

The question is who has the most depth. Lou Holtz responds by saying USC doesn't have a durable back like Beanie Wells. Say what??? He then goes on and says there's only one ball so it doesn't matter how many backs USC has and that if he can hand the ball to anyone it would be Beanie Wells over any USC backs because they aren't as durable. Say what??? Beanie Wells = durable back??? Guy who didn't even play yesterday cause he was hurt is durable??? Ohio State Buckeyes who couldn't run the ball against Ohio (insert unknown mascot here) has more depth at tailback than USC??? Okay sure thing Lou. Whatever you say.

If USC is the Homecoming Queen, Lou Holtz must be that geeky band guy that tried to ask her out to prom and got turned down. So now he's all butt hurt and refuses to acknowledge how hot the homecoming queen is. If USC whoops the Buckeyes next week, Lou Holtz will be the first one to make excuses how it happened. I'm just glad the host didn't ask Lou Holtz to compare San Diego Aztecs and USC. I just don't know how he would go about justifying that the Aztecs are better. Well I guess if anyone was to do that, it would be our geeky band guy, Lou :) Read the full story

Don't just run away when you're in a bad Mood(y)

After a disappointing game of just 2 carries and 2 yards, former USC Tailback Emmanuel Moody didn't even make it on the field in his second game as Gator. He did still manage to get mentioned in two sentences in this article from Rivals.com.

All jokes aside, it's really quite a shame that he transferred. I thought he played well in his first season at USC. With all the injuries at tailback last year, he definitely would have earned some playing time especially in the Stanford game where Chauncey Washington was ineffective, Joe McKnight had zero yards in 2 carries, and Herschel Dennis finishing 2nd in rushing yards with 34.

Does anyone miss Moody now? No. Does he miss USC? Maybe. One thing is for sure, he had the whole game today sitting on the sideline to think about it. Read the full story

Football, Boxing, and Chatta who? ga?

After watching some game tapes from this Saturday's football games, I found myself thinking of a completely different sport - boxing. I watched some of these highly ranked, best "pound for pound" teams playing who??? Central Michigan? Chattanooga? Florida Atlantic? West Virginia who??? (That's right Wolverine Fans)

I'm not saying that Georgia is weak. Nor am I questioning the talent of Florida, Missouri, Ohio State, and these other top caliber teams. I'm just tired of watching them play these weak teams. It's like the world of boxing and watching supposed great fighters avoiding boxers that can actually fight back so they can finish their career with a 42-0-3 record with 32 KOs. Did Floyd Mayweather's promoter book Oklahoma's season opener this year? Every boxer wants to end their career with a great record. Every football team in the nation wants to do the same so they can come out on top of the rankings at the end of the season. But who did you fight to get there? This is why we question some boxer's careers. Who did they really fight? Who's Chattanooga?

This is why USC is so great. They'll go toe to toe with anyone. Anywhere. They don't have an Athletic Director(Promoter) who just sets up easy fights. That's why USC jumped up to #1. They beat up a big program school on the road, while Georgia and Ohio State played I-AA schools. They might as well have scheduled a game against the local community college.

I'm really not questioning the talent of these schools. I'm not saying they don't deserve their high ranking. I just don't want to have to break out the map to figure out where some of the schools they're playing came from. I just want to know that they played the best available. At the end of the season, I just don't want to be left unsatisfied asking the question, "Well who did you really fight?"

Well I guess it is always fun to see the Appalachian States of this world pull huge upsets. But seriously. Chatta who??? ga?? Read the full story

The SEC is better the same way my mom's cooking is better

Friday, September 5, 2008 0 comments

The PAC10 has won 10 of it's 16 games against the SEC during this BCS era. USC alone has crushed every SEC team it has faced. So why does the perception of the PAC10 being soft and SEC being all mighty still exist? It's like watching Muhammad Ali knock out George Foreman and Joe Frazier then saying Ali is weak. Well as they say, "it is what it is." Sadly, most will always perceive the SEC to be better than the PAC10, and I can tell you exactly why that is with the following statement.

My mom's cooking is better than yours.

It really doesn't matter if everyone disagrees with you. In your mind, your mom's cooking will always taste better. That's just how it's been since you were little. You grew up with your mamas cooking and you're so accustomed to that flavor that you can have Emeril or that hot Italian girl Giada feeding you better food, but you'll still refuse to admit that it's better than your moms.

That's just how it is when people are thinking with their hearts. You're trying to change their minds, but that's not where the thinking process is occurring. So you can show them the scores all you want. You'll never change their mind. So it's really an endless argument. Maybe if someone in the PAC10 other than USC starts whooping these SEC teams on a CONSISTENT basis. Wait, that won't be enough.

SEC is football country. The fans there love their football the same way mama's boys love their mommies' cooking. Here in PAC10 country, we have other interests. It's called LIFE. That's something they don't have out there. Out there they eat, breathe football.

So I'm not going to pay attention to this whole thing about them having better athletes. That doesn't always equate to better teams. If it did, USC which recruits the best each year would've won the championship 5 years in a row. It's about how each of those individual talents can gel in to making a great team. So lately according to the scoreboard the PAC10 teams have been beating up the SEC teams.

I guess that's what I'll just do, and you should all just do the same. Let's just look at the scores. Look at pure data. Let's go by facts because there is no winning the battle of public opinion. The SEC will always be "better" than the PAC 10, and my Mama's cooking will always be better than your mom's! Read the full story

Top 10 (cause who cares where the other 15 goes)

Thursday, September 4, 2008 0 comments

1(5) USC They beat up a BCS school on the road. Sanchez played better than anyone expected.

2 (2) Ohio St. They looked great…. Against a I-AA team. Who am I to judge? Oh wait it's my top 10.

3 (4) Oklahoma Great coaching. Good 'ol beating. Bradford was a playa'. But it was just Chattanooga. Waiting to see how they do against Texas

4 (4) Florida USC of the East but with shaky defense??? Well we all know Tebow will lead them to many TDs. Their defense played well, but Hawaii honestly really sucks right now

5 (3) Georgia It would have been nice to see USC and Georgia play in the Rosebowl last year. But if we got that dream matchup would Georgia be ranked this high right now? They're suppose to be a solid team. Georgia Southern scored 21 points which isn't too pretty but that was mostly during grabage time.

6 (6) Missouri

7 (7) LSU I wanted to see Appalachian St do it again. Lee and Hatch both looked decent as QBs. Which way will they eventually go?

8 (9) West Virginia White is craaaaaaazy. Need I say more? I love the guy

9 (8) Missouri You blew a big one last year. You almost blew it big against Illi. I think they'll keep putting numbers on the board, but it will be of to the Nacho Bowl if they don't improve their D

10 (11) Texas I knocked Auburn off the board. Is Texas that much better? It is certain! Well according to my magic 8 ball

Yes, I had 4 schools above USC before the season. Yes USC has this great defense this year, but USC had a great defense last year. Possibly better than the one they have this year. Their offense was also way predictable with John David Booty at the helm. I'm not knocking J-Boot, but even Carroll made a remark on the difference Mark Sanchez makes and the added dimension he brings. If you all remember Mark led the Trojans to ONE amazing drive against the Ducks last year when Sark decided to open up the playbook a bit during *OC time.

Against Virginia, USC showed that their defense is as dominant once again. Now that Mark has shown that what he did for that ONE drive against the Ducks, he can now sustain throughout the game. So I'm pretty confident that USC definitely deserves to be bumped up from #5 to #1.

Ocho Cinco es muy Lamo

It's official  The Bengals have begun the process of adding Chad's new surname which he obtained legally in Broward County, Fl., last week.  So the back of his jersey will now read Ocho Cinco.

"It's something I don't think anyone has ever done before," says Chad.

That's because it's stupid Chad.  Why stop there?  Why not bring back "he hate me"  or better yet, how about "I'm with stupid."  Well I guess that would only work if you change that to "I am stupid."

Well congratulations Chad.  Maybe it was a smart move.  You're probably not going to catch a lot of balls this year, so why not let your jersey do some catching and catch some attention.

Final Thoughts: Matter Dei vs Carson / Barkley & Presley

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 0 comments

I'll be honest. I started writing my final thoughts right before overtime. Considering the fact that both teams start on the 10 yard line, and that Carson was running the ball with ease, I expected Matter Dei to lose their first game of the season in overtime.

The picture on the left shows Matt Barkley and Morrell Presley giving each other a friendly pat as they flipped the coin for overtime. Pete Carroll would call this picture a perfect Kodak moment as both stars have verbally committed to become future Trojans. The two did nothing but impress in this evening's game. Yeah, Reggie Bush can return punts, but can he kick the punts himself? It's impressive how versatile Morrell Presley is. He will probably never have to punt the ball in college or in the pros, but the fact that he'll add that to his bag of tricks along with blocking, and embarrassing DBs as a TE and WR just amazes me. This 3.0+ student athlete should have no trouble fitting in with the rest of the Trojans next year.

I'm curious to read what writers will say about Matt Barkley's performance. Six touchdowns in a game is impressive. He would have had 2 more that would probably have changed the course of the game if it weren't for silly penalties on their team. From that perspective, he really played a solid game. I watched the replays several times specially the game winning TD in 3OT. Barkley looked left. He looked right. He motioned left. Then he threw a rocket to the right for his receiver to catch. He threw 4 ints earlier in the game including 1 in 2OT. The fact that he can forget about those and maintain his poise and throw that dart pass 2 defenders to find his man made me forget about his earlier mistakes. To sum it up, in my opinion, I think Matt Barkley is as good as advertised.

Absolute final thought: High school kids can't kick field goals. Which is fine cause neither can most people reading this blog. :) Read the full story

Interception!

Matt's arm is hit as he throws. Intercepted once again. Yes his line was weak on that play, but that's something all QB's deal with. Currently with about 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter Matty stands at 9 for 18 passing. 202 yards. 2TDs and 2INTs.

Morrell Presley - still absolutely impressive. Trojan fans should be excited. Read the full story

Surprise gift

So it's Christmas morning and you just finished opening all your presents. You're happy with your new toys, extra cash, and the sweater grandma gave you. Then, out of nowhere, your mom breaks out a surprise present!

That's the feeling I just got. Matt Bar..... Barkley's pass just got tipped, intercepted, and returned for a TD. I was just about to say that Matt Barkley has been playing as good as advertised. I was already satisfied to see him play at this level and can't wait to see him in cardinal and gold. But now, Morrell Presley just made his presence known. He blocks like a tight end. Has the size for a tight end. But boy, the guy flew like a wide reciever. Now I can see why he's the #1 Ranked TE in the nation. Read the full story

New Beginning (well I got side tracked)

I guess it's only appropriate to start things of with a theme of new beginnings. New blog, new season even though we're already 9% done (11 games. 1 out of 11. let me get the calculator) Yup 9% done. I swear football season is too short and that's why women have to understand why we can't afford to miss a single game. Anyway.... Quick recap

We all know USC was a 20 point favorite and won by more than double of that. I won't go in to the stats you can read that on other blogs and on other sites like espn.com. The bottom line is, USC did way better than I ever expected. It's like going on a blind date or meeting some girl you met on Eharmony. Her description seems nice. Likes sports, music, movies, blah blah blah. Her picture looks great, but that's probably her best picture taken on her best side, under the best light, and chances are she looks nothing like that in person. So you email, you talk on the phone, you get excited, finally it's game day and you meet for coffee and she's just as hot in person as she did in the picture if not hotter. Well that's exactly what USC turned out to be.

I frequently go on scout.com. Pete Carroll has recruited like a mad man. He's like Hugh Heffner, but instead of getting hot bodacious babes, he gets the top football prospects in the nation. So on that site, you will see how great USC looks on paper. How many schools have a #1 ranked QB out of high school as their starting QB? Well I guess some do. But how many of those schools have a #1 QB and a #3 ranked QB out of high school as their backups? How many schools have a #1 ranked and a #2 ranked RB go to their school on the same year. So that's USC. Even hotter than expected. Better yet, continuing with our analogy, the girl asks you to spend the night.

USC's defense didn't just kick the crap out of the other team, their offense led by Mark Sanchez just lit it up.

Okay let's end it there. Back to new beginnings. This is our first post. I will be at the Ohio State game on the 13th. But right now, I'm waiting to watch the high school football game between Mater Dei and Carson. We'll get a good look at Matt Barkley. You should know who he is if not, google or check him out on scout.com. Read the full story
